  • Long before New York, before any of the rest of it, I was a young child in South Africa with something small + frightened in my hands, learning that care is mostly patience. Wildlife rehabilitation was my first love + I was certain it would be my only one.

    It wasn't. Education pulled me one way + bespoke hospitality pulled me much further, more than ten years across private estates, yachts + jets, some of it in front of cameras. I was good at that world. I was also, quietly, a little lost in it. There's a specific loneliness in making other people's lives beautiful while wondering what you're actually for.

    New York answered that. Since landing here, I've spent the last few years in veterinary clinics + in people's homes, with hundreds of dogs, cats + the humans who love them. I got my hands back. I got my purpose back.

    I also kept seeing the same gap. There's the vet, there's home + in between there's almost nothing.

    The senior client who can't get to appointments anymore. The parent who needs help at six on a Tuesday, tonight, not next week. The anxious dog who unravels the second he crosses his own threshold. The owner at two in the morning with a phone in one hand, a dog's head in their lap, searching is this an emergency.

    None of them love their animal any less for it. Nobody hands their heart to a fourteen-year-old cat by halves. What's missing was never the love, it's the support around it. Someone in your corner, in your home, who knows what they're doing + treats your animal like the family member they already are.

    That's the whole idea behind the name. Prevention isn't a product. It's what happens when someone who knows what they're looking at is in the room often enough to notice.

    WELLNESS AGENT

    Warmed fluids, steady hands + a running commentary your cat pretends not to enjoy. Subcutaneous therapy, dental brushing, ear cleans, the medicated bath done properly, Kayla takes the unglamorous stuff + somehow makes it feel like a spa day. Your vet adores her notes. Your cat will never admit anything. She’ll teach you to do it all yourself too, because capable is the whole point.

    WELLNESS AGENT + COMMUNITY

    Wellness visits by day, working the room by night. Santos runs the CPR classes at corporate venues, the building sessions + every neighborhood introduction that turns a stranger into a regular. She will remember your Frenchie’s name + forget yours entirely. Correct priorities, frankly. If Pawvention has a social life, it is Santos.
